Cultural Night Taaruf Week 2012/2013

Assalamualaikum and Ahlan Wasahlan new semester!

Hi there! it is quite a long time since we updated this blog.
We were quite busy in our previous semester.

Time flew so fast and now we are in 2nd semester of 2012/2013 session.
Through out the last semester we did a lot of meaningful and enjoyable activities with our members and the other people.
One of the most memorable activities are A Moment with Percussion, where we were having an activities with the HIV kids. Sincerely we're having a lot of fun and laughter in that moment.

Ok, back to our main topic.
Alhamdulillah, on 1 February 2013, We participated in cultural night for Taaruf Week 2nd semester, 2012/2013 session. We also performed with the other clubs from cultural center (previously known as cultural and arts unit) in order to make the show more exciting.

At first, we've been told that we will do our performance in the Main Hall, Cultural Activity Center (CAC) but unfortunately we couldn't performed it in there as the hall will be used for a wedding in the next morning. So, the cultural night was moving to be held in MAIN AUDITORIUM.

In this time, the cultural night was quite different from the previous. Our teacher, Cikgu Ku Zahir Ku Ahmad came up with an ideas of "Malay's Weddings" as our themes. It quite an excitement to us since iium percussion club plays an important role as a "kompang" player. hehe. And also a billion thank you to the other clubs  for  participated as a "kompang" players too. like people always said, the more the merrier. haha.

During this cultural night, we were also came up with the two new repertoire which are Samba Zapin and Afro Joget! InshaAllah we will add on more repertoire in the future * Yeahh!!
We would like to thanks to iium angklung club and iium acoustic band for trusting us to accompany them. (Thank you!!) May our ukhwah last long forever. InshaAllah.

With a touch of Cikgu Ku Zahir Ku Ahmad, we managed to play Symphony 40 medley puteri santubong with other clubs! it is a hard song though, but after a week of endless training, we managed to perform well the symphony 40! We love the Symphony 40 as we performed it with the traditional instrument including the percussion, angklung, caklempong, gamelan as well as modern instrument from acoustic band. Maybe IIUM Cultural Team is the first team ever to perform Symphony 40 with different kind of instruments.

Okay, to end our post here, we will put some picture as well as a video special to our viewers here.
Till next time, Assalamualaikum and enjoy!
